Anderson was born in December 1849.  Anderson's father was Solomon S Kimbler and his mother was Lucinda Picklesimer (Kimbler).  His paternal grandparents were Ebenezar Kimbler and Nancy (Kimbler). He had a brother named Thomas.  He was the older of the two children.
