Cecil's father was Charles Alfred McKenzie and his mother was Mary Anice Kimbler (McKenzie). His paternal grandparents were Frank McKenzie and Cordilly Jane Curtis (McKenzie); his maternal grandparents were George Scott Kimbler and Maude Edna Morgan (Kimbler, Ross). He had three brothers and three sisters, named Clarance, Herman, Charles, Ethel, <Unknown> and Lillian. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 75 in 1995.
